Founded in 2019, Artificial Intelligence and Digital Art Lab (AIDA) is dedicated to the study, exploration and application of machine intelligence from the dual dimensions of science and art. In the science dimension, AIDA is focused on scientific research of machine learning, artificial intelligence, human-computer-interaction, group intelligence, reinforcement learning, and machine consciousness. In the art dimension, AIDA aims at research and practicing art and design by integrating the latest technology, i.e., to explore the artistic expression and design led by the latest breakthrough in AI and study and reflect human conditions (consciousness and subconsciousness) resulted from the rapid growth of the technologies.
Fully supported by ShanghaiTech University, AIDA now invites highly qualified candidates to consider two tenure-track faculty positions in leading the integration of the two otherwise disconnected domains.

Machine learning track:
Qualifications:
1. Ph.D. (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics, Applied Math, or related field);
2. Strong research productivity and demonstrated potentials in machine learning field or Human computer interactions and preferably have previous research experience in applications related to art, design or other related social sciences;
3. Teaching 1-2 courses in the areas of deep learning, reinforcement learning, multi-agent systems; game theory, collective intelligence, robot systems etc;
4. A minimum relevant research experience of 4 years.
Digital art and design track:
Qualifications:
1. Ph.D. (Human-computer interactions, Cognitive Science, Psychology, Media & Digital Art, and Design), or contemporary Artist with equivalent additional research or teaching background
2. Strong research or artistic productivity and demonstrated potentials in their fields;
3. Teaching 1-2 courses with the experience of delivering practical studio-based teaching and theory led seminar discussions;
4. A minimum relevant research art practicing experience of 4 years.

Salary and startup funds are highly competitive, commensurate with experience and academic accomplishment. We also offer a comprehensive benefit package to employees and eligible dependents, including on-campus housing. All regular ShanghaiTech faculty members will join its tenure-track system in accordance with international practice for progress evaluation and promotion.
